Limerick Soccer - Good week for Granville in Division 1A

IN DIVISION 1A it was a good week for Granville Rgs. They followed their 3-0 win over Caherconlish (scorers were Liam Quinn, Ken O’Donoghue and Cian Byrnes) with a superb 1-0 victory over one of their biggest threats Summerville Rvs. Liam Quinn was on the mark.

Caherdavin Celtic fell to Summerville Rvs on a 5-0 scoreline (James Cleary with his third hat trick of the season and Damien Quinlivan with two were on the mark for the winners) and went down again at the weekend losing 2-1 to Balla for whom Jason Devlin and Damien Conway scored.

Pike Rvs B beat Dromore Celtic 4-1 courtesy of Mike Lipper (2), Colm Pearse and Brian Butler while Mungret Reg got the better of Moyross 3-1 with goals from Neil O’Callaghan, Jack O’Donovan and Pat O’Donoghue; Keith Ryan replied for Moyross who went down 3-1 again at the weekend to Pike Rvs on a Mark Phelan, Mike Geary and top scorer Mike Lipper netted for Pike; Ken McNamara replied.

Shannon Town with scores from Ken Buckley, Gary O’Connell, Dave O’Flaherty and Dale Nolan beat Fairview Rgs B 4-2. David Cassidy and Tom Hehir netted for the View.

In Div 1B Newport beat leaders Janesboro 3-0 with goals by Dean Lenihan (2) and Rob Ryan.

Prospect Priory and Knockainey ended scoreless while Murroe won again; 2-1 at home to Athlunkard Villa. Brian Quinn and Drew McLean scored for the winners; Philip Clancy replied for Villa.

Kennedy Park had no answer to Bruff Utd going down 3-1; Tony Burke, Jason Lenihan and Sean Kelly scored for the winners.

Hyde Rgs beat Corbally 4-2 on Tuesday evening with scores from Stephen Fitzmaurice (2), Garrett Higgins and Jeffery O’Dwyer.

In the weekend fare Hospital won the big game against Knockainey. Shaun O’Brien scored the only goal of the game.

Steven Fitzmaurice was on target for Hyde but they fell to Bruff for who Niall Burchill scored twice.

Ian Collins and Roy O’Connell were on target for Athlunkard Villa but they went down to Corbally Utd B for whom Conor O’Driscoll (2), Ben Savage (2) and Dermot Hughes were on target.

Charleville with goals from Corkery, Dillon and Maxwell beat Murroe 3-2; Paul Kett and Liam Breen replied.

Aisling with two wins this week join Geraldines at the top of the pile in Div 2A. a Joe Horan goal gave Aisling victory over Cappamore and on Sunday they beat Regional 2-0 with goals from Eanna Kennedy and Stephen Moloney.

Geraldines B beat St Pats with goals from Conor Keane, Joe Keane, Niall Benson and Leonard O’Grady but went down 3-2 to Cappamore. Shane O’Gorman, Adam Keogh and Sean O’Connor for the winners and Joe McNamara and Joe Keane for Dines scored.

Vinny Naughton and Barry Conway scored in Regional Utd B 2-1 win over Castle Rvs and it was a similar result as Weston edged out Shelbourne. Andy Egan scored for the home side; an Edward Madigan brace won it for Villa.

Shelbourne bounced back with a good win over Holycross hitting eight without reply. Jason Travers (3), Sam Egan (3), Mark Geoghegan and Paul Storan, with the goal of the game, accounted for the scores.

Coonagh Utd join Mungret Reg at the top in Div 2B following two good wins. Niall Hogan (2), Gordon McKevitt (2) and Shane Bennis were on target in a 5-3 win over Charleville while Glen Graham and Cillian Collins scored in a 2-1 win over Ballylanders.

Wayne Cronin scored the only goal of the game to give Southend the spoils against Hill Celtic and they followed up with a 4-3 win over Caledonians courtesy of Dean Hogan (2), In In Div 3A, Thomas Butler, Glen Bussoli and an own goal gave Abbey the points against Prospect Priory; Anthony Collins replied, while on Saturday they were held 2-2 by Shannon.

Luke Hayes and Graham Carey scored for Abbey; Shane McCarthy and Shane Kiely for ‘Town.

Glenview’s good form continued and they beat Prospect Priory 4-3 with scores from Tony Carroll (3) and Mike Moynihan while Newport beat Caherconlish thanks to Sean Ryan and John Ahern scores.

Stephen Folan scored the winner for Granville against Shelbourne B in Div 3B while Peadar McCarthy (2) and David Cregan netted for Meanus v Aisling.

Eoin Burchill (3), Barry Roche, Trevor Lawlor, Aidan Moloney, Alan O’Regan and Shane Fitzgerald were on the mark for Croom Utd against Lisnagry B and Kevin O’Donoghue (2), Declan Barry, Mikey Ryan and Sean Murphy scored for Hospital against Holycross in Div Four.
