Paul O’Donnell’s Geraldines beat their nearest threat to promotion in Caherdavin Celtic at the weekend to ensure that they will return to the top flight if they win one of their remaining five games.

Bobby Tier and Shane Byrne had Geraldines well in control when Cian Williams pulled one back with 15 to go.

Bobby Tier settled the nerves when he scored a third late in the game. In the Division 1A Cup Pike beat Granville on a penalty shoot out after the sides finished 2-2. Barry Lipper and Cian Byrnes scored for a much improved Granville while a cracker from Colm Pearse and one from Mike Lipper accounted for the Pike goals.

In Div 1B, Moyross are within sight of promotion after a 4-1 win over Kennedy Park. Dean Mitchell hit a brace for the winners with Cyril Cleary and Johnny Corbett also getting in on the act.

Dinny Aherne scored both as Knockainey beat Murroe 2-1. Mike Ryan replied for the visitors while Shelbourne and Janesboro B played an exciting 2-2 draw in Shelbourne Park.

Danny O’Keeffe scored twice for the home side. The Sheehan’s Peter and Alan earned a point for the Boro.

Div 2A side Corbally Utd regained their position at the top of the table with their best display of the season, hammering Aisling 6-1.

Buoyed on by the return from injury of the excellent Conor O’Driscoll, the Athlunkard side were on the front foot from the kick off.

Along with O’Driscoll, Sean Prenderville, Dave O’Gorman, Stephen Bourke, Lucca Tedde and Jamie Fox also netted.

Holycross put eight past a young Caledonians side courtesy of Ryan Glenn (3), Dave Coffey and Brian Slattery two apiece and Andy O’Neill. Andrew Duggan replied for Cals while Castle Rvs with goals from Neil McLoughlin, Mick Ryan and Andy Moloney beat St Pats 3-2; Brian Buston and Ger Buston scored for Saints.

In Div 2B leaders Geraldines were brought back to earth by an impressive Regional Utd side who ran in four goals without reply from Shane O’Donoghue (2), Ed O’Brien and Vinny Naughton.

Weston Villa are the new leaders following another excellent win over Mungret Reg B. Daithi Stewart and Peter O’Flaherty scored for the winners while Ziggy Zlanton replied for Mungret.

David Hannon, Denis Giltenane and Mark Power were on the mark for Mungret in a 3-0 win at Meanus while St Pats B beat Caherconlish B 3-2. Bobby Harty (2) and Peter O’Sullivan scored for the winners; Mark Herr with two replied.

St Pauls good form continued with a 4-2 win over Coonagh Utd. Ray Foley (2), John Curtin and Dara McNamara were on the mark with Niall Hogan and Mark McGrath netting for Coonagh. Fairview Rgs beat Ballynanty Rvs 3-0 in the Ger Ryan Cup with scores from Craig Reddan, Shane Power and Eddie Byrnes while in the Under 19 League Liam Danagher netted five times for Aisling at Shelbourne. Barry Neville and Graham Power also scored for the winners while Kevin McInerney and Kevin Kiely replied for the home side.
