Young Munster picked up their first win of 2012 to remain within four points of Ulster Bank All-Ireland League Division 1A table toppers St Mary’s College.

Munsters’ ended a two-game losing run in the Division when recording a gritty 25-10 victory over second-from-bottom Blackrock College at Clifford Park on Saturday.

Mark Doyle and Shane Hassett bagged tries for Mike Prendergast’s side, while Willie Staunton kicked 15 points with the boot.

Young Munster host great rivals Cork Constitution in another key clash at Clifford Park this Saturday (2.30pm).

Bateman All-Ireland Cup finalists Garryowen recorded their fifth win of the campaign when accounting for Dolphin on a 19-13 scoreline at Dooradoyle.

Sixth-placed Garryowen had a try from Paul Neville, while Munster’s Declan Cusack kicked 14 points with the boot.

Shannon now lie in eighth place in the table on the back of their 14-22 reverse at the hands of second-placed Clontarf.

Stephen Keogh’s side suffered their fourth successive defeat of the AIL despite tries from Kevin Griffin and David Quinlan, both of which were converted by Tadhg Bennett.

Shannon make the trip to Dublin to face Lansdowne this Saturday, while Garryowen take on table toppers St Mary’s College at Templeville Road.

In Division 1B, UL-Bohemian recorded an impressive 20-12 away victory over Dungannon at Stevenson Park. Martin McPhail and Rory White scored tries, while Ed Torrie added 10 points with the boot.

Ul-Bohs are now sixth in the table, seven points off leaders Ballynahinch. The Annacotty club face UCC at home this Saturday.

Relegation-threatened Bruff remain second-from-bottom in the table as the Kilballyowen Park side suffered a disappointing 5-10 defeat to Galwegians at Crowley Park. Hooker Cathal O’Regan scored the Bruff try.

There was no joy for the two Limerick sides in 2A as both Thomond and old Crescent shipped heavy defeats.

Thomond conceded four tries in their 3-30 defeat to table toppers Dublin University at Fitzgerald Park, while Old Crescent lost out on a 29-3 scoreline to Bective Rangers at Donnybrook.
