Colm Kinsella looks ahead to Young Munster’s game against Old Belvedere on Saturday.

IT is difficult to overestimate the significance of Young Munster’s nail-biting one-point victory over Lansdowne before the Christmas break.

Had Munsters’ lost that game, they would now be faced with bridging a gaping 11-point gap to the 1A table toppers. Instead, Mike Prendergast’s charges are right back in the title hunt. Third-placed Munsters’ trail leaders Garryowen by six points, with 11 series of games remaining.

2011 AIL winners Old Belvedere are seventh in the table with three wins from their seven fixtures to date.

Munsters’ will be conscious of the damage two defeats at the start of 2012 did to their title hopes and will be anxious to avoid a repeat in 2013.

The game kicks off at 2.30pm in Tom Clifford Park.
