Limerick footballers lose to Wicklow
Maurice Horan's Limerick footballers are as good as out of the race for promotion in the Allianz Football League after losing to Wicklow last weekend
THE Limerick footballers suffered another massive blow in their bid for promotion from Division 4 when they were beaten 2-13 to 0-14 by Wicklow in Aughrim on Sunday.
A goal from Tony Hannon in the first half had the home side 1-5 to 0-6 at the break and things got worse for Limerick ten minutes into the second half when Leighton Glynn got their second.
A red card for Lorcan O’Dwyer made a bad afternoon even worse and means Limerick are now hugely unlikely to feature in the promotion race. They are in third place behind Fermanagh and Clare but two of Clare’s remaining games are against Kilkenny and London while Limerick must also make the trip to Enniskillen to play Peter Canavan’s unbeaten Fermanagh side.
