Ardscoil Ris lost 22-0 to CBC in the Munster Schools Senior Cup on Wednesday but are still in the competition and will play St Munchin's in the quarter-final on February 21/22

CBC proved too strong for Ardscoil Ris in Temple Hill on Wednedsday afternoon as the Cork side eased to a 22-0 win in the Munster Schools Senior Cup.

The Limerick school came into the game on the back of a hard-fought 13-7 win over Midleton College in the preliminary round but this represented a big step up and despite their brave efforts, they couldn’t stay with last year’s beaten semi-finalists.

Tries from Tom Morehead and Adam Finn helped CBC to a 10-0 lead at the break and they stretched that advantage early in the second half when Thomas Quinlan made a good break to get their third try.

Despite the best efforts of Robbie McKenna and Robbie Burke out wide and a fine contribution from half-time sub Paul Obande and second row Patrick Kearns, Ardscoil couldn’t get any reward on the scoreboard.

The final blow came late on when Adam Finn crossed for his second try and Dave O’Riordan added the conversion.

Ardscoil now face Limerick rivals St Munchin’s in the quarter-final proper on February 23 while CBC will have home advantage for the second game running against Crescent.
