Mixed results for Coleraine B

IT was a mixed week in Junior League One last week for Coleraine B as they beat Portrush B, but slipped to defeat against Cookstown.

The Lodge Road side overcame derby rival Portsush by 38-shots at the Recreation Grounds.

The visitors won three of the four rinks thanks to Willie Calvin, who beat Tommy Scott by five, Jack Logan had an excellent 20-shot win over G Scott and Sammy Connor snr also had a good win beating J Shields by 14-shots.

L Simpson pulled a point back for the Seasiders with a one shot win over Mickey McColgan.

The Coleraine men though were brought back down to earth with a bump two days later as League Champions Cookstown inflicted a grand slam defeat on them.

The visitors won by 23-shots, winning on all four rinks.

Derek Mitchell beat Robert Madden by three, Noel Glasgow overcame Willie Calvin by 12-shots, A Smyth got the better of Mickey McColgan to win by five and Eamon McIlroy completed the rout with a three shot win over Sammy Connor snr.

Meanwhile, Brookgreen B slipped to a 35-shot away defeat at the hands of Kilrea.

The hosts won three rinks and drew the fourth to leave Brookgreen with only half a point thanks to Nigel Steele's draw with Barney McAlary.

Castlerock picked up a much-needed win away to Ballymoney B as they grabbed six points thanks to their 28-shot win.

The Seasiders successful skips were Phillip Kirk, who beat Paul McCook by four, Victor Callaghan, who recorded an eight shot win over Ken Shirley and Liam McLaughlin, who had a superb 24-shot win over Andrew Walker.

M McAleese grabbed a point for the hosts with an eight shot win over Jackie Hutchinson.

City of Derry B are deep in relegation trouble after they slipped to a five shot home defeat by Portrush.

Both sides won two rinks each but it was the visitors who picked up five points.

G Scot and T Scott were the victors for the Ports as they beat P Doherty and I Montgomery respectively.

Limavady B have been crowned Junior League Two champions following their 6-1 win over Dungiven.

And Portstewart recorded a 17-shot win over Riada to pick up six points.

F Wilmot, R French and A Walker all won their rink for the hosts, with J McMaster replying for Riada.
