Cookstown sizzling again
COOKSTOWN retained the Sperrin Metals Senior League title on Saturday with a five shot win over City of Derry.
The hosts were pushed all the way to pick up the five points that clinched the title.
Their winning skips were Mark Wilson, who beat Jim Campbell by three and Tom McAleavey, who had a good 11-shot win over Ken McConomy.
City of Derry hit back through John Louden, who beat Colin Hogg by five and Malcolm Thompson who beat Jackie Smyth by four shots.
Portrush kept a firm grip on second spot with a clean sweep over Limavady.
The hosts triumphed by 59-shots at the Recreation Grounds winning a four rinks.
The winning skips were Jeremy Henry, who beat Wilfie Moore by 17-shots, Kevin O'Neill recorded a 20-shot win over V Hunter, Gary McCloy joined in the rout with a 15-shot win over Gerry Lowry and Ian McClure wrapped things up with a seven shot win over Robin Brown.
Dunluce slumped to a shock defeat at the hands of basement boys Brooke Park.
The hosts triumphed by eight shots picking up six points in the process.
All the games were closely fought, but Mick Fahy, Ken Gormley and D O'Donnell all won their rinks to give Brooke Park the win.
Harry Elliott grabbed a point for the visitors with a three shot win over Jimmy Hassan.
Coleraine rounded off their Senior League campaign with a whitewash of Portglenone.
The hosts picked up all seven points was they broke the ton to seal a 44-shot win.
Victor Dallas had a comprehensive 27-shot win over James Gaul, Keith Padgett beat R Hunter by 13, Basil Kennedy had a good battle with Chris Jones before winning by three shots and Jonathon Calvin wrapped up the clean sweep with a one shot win over Eamon McCann.
