Limerick FC fight back to force replay with Sporting Fingal
LIMERICK FC staged a stunning comeback from 2-0 down to force a reply with Sporting Fingal.
Limerick's Premier League opposition - the holders of the FAI Cup - now face a tricky journey to Jackman Park, following an injury time equaliser from Stehen O'Flynn.
Pat Scully's men had looked dead and buried at half time when they were 2-0 down following goals from Gary O'Neill and Conan Byrne.
Five minutes after the restart, however, an unmarked Pat Purcell had pulled a goal back for the Super Blues following a Shane Treacy corner.
But Limerick thought their chance had gone when Treacy was dismissed for a second bookable offence following an over-zealous challenge on Fingal scorer Byrne 20 minutes from time.
But it was O'Flynn who had the last say, and giving Limerick the opportunity to have another shot at Sporting.
Elsewhere, Munster secured their first pre-season win with a 15-10 victory over Gloucester. Tries from Wian du Preez, Alan Quinlan, coupled with penalties from Paul Warwick - who later added a conversion - did the damage.
