Lavin back for London challenge

The Limerick footballers should continue their unbeaten start to the Allianz Football League Division 4 when they play London at home.
Experienced defender Stephen Lavin is back available for selection ahead of Sunday’s clash with London in the Gaelic Grounds at 2pm.
The Adare man missed the victory in Carrick on Shannon but could go straight into the side to play The Exiles.
However, the return of Lavin is off-set by an injury to Seamus O’Carroll. The Cappagh man wil be out for at least the next month - he picked up a fractured rib in a fall while claiming the Munster senior handball title.
He could return for round three away to Clare on March 4.
Other key players like John Galvin, Jim O’Donovan and Stephen Kelly will still be absent this weekend but could be targeting that game in Clare for a return.
“We have two points in the league table but that win is no good without us having four before three week break - that was the target and its great to be off to a winning start,” said Limerick manager Maurice Horan this Wednesday.
He has warned against overlooking London.
“Look at the championship last season when they took Mayo to extra time and then beat Fermanagh before losing to Waterford, when they had men sent off. They will really be looking to make an impression in this league,” said Horan.
Perhaps to Limerick benefit, London’s game against Fermanagh last Sunday was called off due to snow.
“A bit like last weekend was, Sunday brings a lot of unknowns for us - we don’t know what kind of team London will have but I know they will be eager to win what is their first game.”
Against Leitrim, Limerick gave first league starts to Damien Quaid, Darragh Treacy and James O’Meara, while subs Ian Corbett, Cian Coady, Mike Quilligan and Eoin Barry were also newcomers.
“I was very pleased with all of them and the eagerness they showed to impress. They bring a real competitiveness to training and the league is there for them to impress us,” said Horan.
“Leitrim was a great start and now we need to build on that. It was always tricky to go away from home in your first game so to have that win under our belts is great. But it’s only two points and we now need two more.”
