Mark Foley out of Limerick GAA election

Mark Foley

Mark Foley

FORMER Limerick hurling captain Mark Foley won’t be standing for election at the December 16 Limerick GAA Annual Convention.

The Adare man was surprisingly nominated for the role of Irish Officer. That pitted the former All-Star defender against current officer Micheal O’Riain of Pallasgreen.

However, Foley has confirmed to LeaderSport that his name has been withdrawn.

That leaves just three elections at the Annual Convention, which takes place in The Strand Hotel.

The three elections are all head-to-head contests.

Of the six candidates Michael McDonnell is the only one with County Board experience, while Seamus McNamara and Eamonn Phelan have divisional experience.

Assistant secretary - Seamus McNamara (Fr Caseys) v Michael McDonnell (Croom).

ASSISTANT TREASURER - Geraldine Neenan (Dromin-Athlacca) v Con Danagher (Blackrock).

PRO - John Cregan (Dromcollogher-Broadford) v Eamonn Phelan (St Patricks).
