Limerick GAA - U-21 football final on Friday night
Limerick GAA clubs voted to change the structures of the Limerick SHC and IHC for 2014
THE CURTAIN will finally come down on the Limerick GAA season this Friday night, December 28, when Knocklong hosts the U-21 ‘A’ football final between St Patrick’s and Bruff. The game throws in at 7.30pm
St Patrick’s have travelled the longer road to the final, although their campaign got off to a poor start when they were beaten by Kildimo-Pallaskenry in the opening round of the city championship. There were only three teams in the city competition so St Pat’s availed of the back door when they got the better of neighbours Monaleen and then reversed their earlier loss to Kildimo-Pallaskenry by recording a 3-5 to 1-5 win in the final. The city side then needed a replay to get the better of Pallasgreen, drawing 3-6 to 2-9 the first day out before posting a 4-8 to 2-7 win when they met a second time. Jason and Brendan Mullins, Keelan Stephenson and Ian Storan are among their key men.
Bruff have had much less drama on their route to Friday’s final. There were only two teams in the South championship and they had a 3-9 to 2-7 win over Croom in the final back at the end of October. They have since beat the West Limerick Strand combination in the county semi-final by
It’s unlikely there will be much between them but St Pat’s look more battle-hardened and that might be enough.
