Árdscoil Rís turn their attention to All-Ireland series

ÁRDSCOIL Rís, following their magnificent 3-15 to 0-14 win over Thurles CBS in last Thursday's Dr. Harty Cup final second replay, will now turn their attention to the All-Ireland series this week.

rdscoil Rs are scheduled to play an All-Ireland semi-final next weekend, but will not know their opposition until Thurles CBS face Kilkenny CBS later today. The winner of that game will then decide the make up of the semi-finals with St. Mary's, Athenry, St. Kieran's, Kilkenny and, of course, rdscoil Rs already through to the last four.

And, rdscoil Rs manager Derek Larkin is determined that his brilliant side make the most of the opportunity they now enjoy.

"We're not going to stop now," insisted Derek Larkin in Nenagh's McDonagh Park on Thursday last.

"That's not to say we're going to count our chickens either. We've a lot of hurling done and this will take a lot out of us. I suppose the celebrations might take a bit out of us as well, but we're ready to move on."

Derek Larkin worked alongside Liam Cronin, Jimmy Browne, Natal O'Grady and Niall Moran to help rdscoil Rs land an historic first Harty Cup title. And, the Tullamore man was thrilled by his side's display on Thursday.

"Oh, it's just unbelievable," admitted Derek Larkin.

"Yeah, it was at the third time of asking. It took a lot to get here, but by God these lads have served their apprenticeship down through the years.

"We've been through a lot of finals, Dean Ryan, Rice Cup, White Cup finals you know with more or less the same group of players and they never give up. They always come back.

"We could have won and lost it in the last two games, but they never gave up.

"People were saying that we wouldn't win it today, we were missing a very influential half-back in Cathal Mc (McInerney) who has been fantastic for us and they had Aidan McCormack back.

"A lot of people said we didn't have much hope, but we have full belief in these guys.

"They have worked so hard and they deserved it, no one deserves it more than these guys," Larkin added.

Mark Ryan, Mark Carmody and Senie O'Brien stole the show for rdscoil Rs on Thursday afternoon.

Once more rdscoil Rs got off to a rasping start and led by nine points (2-7 to 0-4) after just 23 minutes. Thurles CBS recovered before half time, but this time rdscoil were in no mood to ease up.
