Vistakon is to confirm 100 new jobs for Limerick today
LIMERICK is to get a further boost this morning, with contact lens manufacturer Vistakon to announce 100 jobs in Plassey.
Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton is due at the company’s National Technology Park facility to announce the new IDA-backed jobs.
The firm has secured permission to build four new production lines, and construction of two of these is at the final stages.
Vistakon’s plant in Limerick supplies millions of euro worth of contact lenses across the world each day.
A subsidiary of medical firm Johnson and Johnson, Vistakon employs around 650 people on 24-hour-a-day shifts in manufacturing.
City TD Kieran O’Donnell welcomed the announcement, saying: “Vistakon is a very well established employer. I wish them, the IDA, and all their employees well with this investment.”
The IDA has now help create 1,000 jobs in Limerick in two years.
