Limerick city is the next destination for the safefood Operation Transformation roadshow, which is currently touring the country.
Safefood, the agency responsible for promoting healthy eating and food safety on the island of Ireland, is the sponsor of the RTE programme and the roadshows are providing practical healthy eating advice, tips on being active and motivation for people looking to kick start their own transformation.
The roadshow is visiting five locations across the country to coincide with the return of the popular programme, to our television screens.
The latest roadshow will take place at the Crescent Shopping Centre, Dooradoyle this Saturday, January 26, between 12pm and 3.30pm.
The aim of the roadshow is to help people around the country to actually get involved in healthy eating and physical activity in a fun, interactive and engaging way.
Safefood experts will be on hand to provide practical advice on topics like portion sizes, calorie swaps and healthy eating for long-term weight loss and there will be games, quizzes and much more.
Dieticians from the Irish Nutrition & Dietetic Institute (INDI) are lending their support at all the venues too.
Those who attend will also get an opportunity to work out with the programme’s fitness expert, Karl Henry.
“The Safefood roadshow is a great way to involve even more people across Ireland in Operation Transformation. We want people across the country to come along to their local roadshow,” said Karl.
“The annual Safefood sponsored Operation Transformation has really become a January landmark and our roadshows make it all the more local. The emphasis on portion sizes, and being active is key to long-term weight loss”, commented Dr Cliodhna Foley-Nolan, Director, Human Health and Nutrition, safefood.
Greg Starr, who is a contestant on this year’s Operation Transformation will also attend the event.
