THE ARMADA Hotel in Spanish Point, a favourite among Limerick couples getting married, has been voted Munster wedding venue of the year.
The hotel was named Best Wedding Venue in Munster at the WeddingsOnline.ie 2013 Awards held in Clontarf Castle recently, beating off the competition of venues from across the province to claim the award, which was the subject of a vote involving more than 28,000 brides and grooms nationwide.
Saurabh Jain, the Armada’s wedding co-ordinator, said the award was the culmination of the “hard work and creative input of hotel staff, management and directors in establishing the facility as a leading wedding venue.”
Votes received in the fourth annual staging of the awards scheme were judged by a panel of expert industry specialists, with decisions based on the provision of “a real wedding experience”.
The judging panel included David Heneghan from CX Index, Mark Richardson and Associates from Irish Mystery Shopping, Tara Fay from Xena Productions and Alan Berg from WeddingWire.
Mr Jain explained that the hotel is looking forward to its busiest year yet for weddings, up 22% on 2012, with a large portion of business coming from Limerick couples. Owner John Burke told the Limerick Leader that “30-35%” of their wedding business comes from Limerick, nearly as big a proportion as that from Clare.
“We pride ourselves on providing a unique, tailor-made wedding experience for those who book their special day at the Armada Hotel,” he explained.
“This award success, which is much sought after in the industry and is a tribute to everyone involved whose hard work down the years to establish the Armada Hotel as a leading Irish wedding venue is now being recognised by our peers,” he added.
