Vicky and Kamal are “absolutely thrilled” and Kamal - who has conceptualised and written three new TV shows - said: “The main issue at the moment is dealing with the birth of our son who is due anyday now.

Evidently not too keen on surprises, Kamal explained: “We know it’s a boy, I like to be very organised and prepared, but at least we have everything ready except a name.”

The Thomondgate native is excited about the prospective new shows. One is a game show he designed and is very much “top secret” until the cameras start rolling.

A factual documentary based on the many nationalities currently in Ireland is another and Kamal hopes to explore their integration into the community and their contribution to Irish society in general.

The third show plans to examine modern trends in relationships and dating and will compare and contrast the traditional elements of dating with newer ones such as online dating sites.

Kamal has “his fingers crossed” that RTÉ exectutives will consider the shows for production, however, he understands that “it’s a competitive industry”.
