AN innovative audio-visual stage show telling the iconic tale of Bram Stoker’s Dracula comes to the University Concert Hall in Limerick next week.
The new adaptation of the classic tale sees Gerard McCarthy - known for TV roles in The Fall, Hollyoaks, Vikings and new BBC comedy Puppy Love - starring as both Jonathan Harker, whose diaries chronicle the bloody tale, and Dracula himself.
Arriving in time for the lead-up to Halloween, the show uses multiple cameras, backing screens, projections, surround sound and a newly commissioned score to tell the grisly tale in a “solo tour de force that will make audiences scream”, according to producers.
Soap star Kym Marsh, West End star Rachel Tucker and film star Jayne Wisener feature alongside the actor in pre-filmed cameos as the Brides of Dracula.
McCarthy, who recently starred in The Globe’s production of The Merry Wives Of Windsor in London and New York and whose debut feature film A Nightingale Falling is due for release soon, is being hailed as one of Northern Ireland’s most exciting and versatile young actors.
Jonathan Harker & Dracula takes place in the UCH this Tuesday, October 21 at 8pm. See www.uch.ie for more.
