FUNNYMAN Tommy Tiernan is back for his third World Tour of Limerick to be played across eight venues between the city and the county, kicking off at the Strand Hotel on May 17.
Tommy said he was excited about performing in a city and county that he “loves” and he thinks “Limerick is an amazing place”.
He describes the entire county: “I think there’s a very strong sense of Irishness in Limerick - It’s a place where I think agriculture has collided into sport and produced alcohol.”
“I’ve an awful lot of time for the city now it’s kind of an undiscovered gem. It doesn’t have the ego of Kerry or of Galway.”
The concept behind the world tours is an improv show with a difference. On the day of the gig Tommy will be out walking through the locality gathering stories and experiences to deliver later that evening.
“The commitment is to be completely in the moment and mental in a high intensity kind of way, they’re hard work but they’re wilder,” he explained.
Audiences can look forward to a unique performance tailored for each venue and “the adventure is never to have two gigs the same,” he added.
