A CHARMING comedy born in Limerick will go on national tour over the next two months, as well as returning to Friars’ Gate Theatre in Kilmallock.
Fred & Alice, written by Ardpatrick playwright John Sheehy and starring Ciaran Bermingham from Cork and Cora Fenton - who hails from Kilmallock - returns to the well appointed theatre next week.
Following on from its critically acclaimed sell out tour in 2013, CallBack theatre are delighted to have been awarded a seven week touring grant for Fred & Alice by the Arts Council of Ireland.
The theatre group will perform 38 shows in 15 venues and “are delighted to be coming home” to Friars’ Gate next Friday and Saturday, March 28-29.
The story of Fred and Alice who “negotiate the perils and pitfalls of life and love from their days in care, to independent living”, the show has been variously described as captivating, clever, absorbing and imaginative, while Sheehy, currently working on a new play The Hole, has been hailed for his writing.
CallBack plan to tour internationally with the play and have been invited to perform for a week in the Oran Mor, Glasgow in May.
