A busy period for Limerick City of Culture backed shows continues with a hip hop theatre retelling of The Táin.

The Made in Limerick production is taking over the Milk Market for six nights, with tiered seating and a stage installed for several hundred people a show.

Expect hip hop, dance, theatre, rap, graffiti, art and film with an original soundtrack by hip hop duo Icarus Rising, telling the epic Irish tale of Cúchulainn and Queen Maeve in an “explosive re-imagining of the ancient story”.

Limerick’s own Ciarda Tobin is directing the exciting piece, which is being presented in association with City of Culture and Dance Limerick and runs from Sunday to the following Friday, July 25.

A mix of Irish and international creative and performing artists have been brought together by Tobin, with choreography by Paul Martin and Conor O’Kane of leading UK hip hop theatre company Bad Taste Cru, done in collaboration with Limerick dancer and teacher Barry ‘Bazzy B’ Burke, who is himself playing Cúchulainn.

This is a unique and exciting production of a classic tale, so don’t miss out!
