YOUNG MUNSTER claimed their third Limerick Charity Cup final success on the trot with a workmanlike 25-13 final victory over great rivals Shannon at on a raw, showery Friday night at Dooradoyle.
An Emmett McLoughlin try, converted by Tadhg Bennett, helped Shannon into an early 7-0 lead but Sean Duggan and Aaron Carroll responded with tries for Young Munster and with Willie Staunton adding a penalty and conversion, they led 15-7 at the break.
Staunton and Bennett (two) exchanged penalties early in the second half but 18-13 was as close as it got as a Darragh Payne try ensured Young Munster got over the finishing line.
