KILMALLOCK ended Na Piarsaigh’s bid for a clean sweep of Limerick hurling titles in Croagh on Saturday when they claimed the U-21 title with an emphatic 5-10 to 2-9 win.
Fresh from winning the senior title for the first time in their history, Na Piarsaigh were also in the U-14, U-16, minor and U-21 finals. But Kilmallock weren’t to be denied on this occasion having lost last year’s decider to the same opposition and duly picked up their fifth championship in six years.
Goals from Conor Crowley, Conor Moloney and Conor Barry as well three points from play from impressive midfielder Robbie Egan had them 3-7 to 0-6 up at the break.
Crowley struck for a second goal early in the second half but Na Piarsaigh fought back and goals from senior stars Kevin Downes and Shane Dowling had the deficit back to six entering the last ten minutes.
But Kilmallock steadied themselves and Paul Doona struck for their fifth goal to settle the issue.
