Crescent Comprehensive were crowned SEAT Munster Schools Senior Cup champions for the second year in succession when they beat Limerick rivals Ardscoil Ris 21-7 in Thomond Park on St Patrick’s Day.
Crescent were deserving winners and were 14-0 up at the break after dominating the first half. Brilliant tries from captain Cormac Blake and full-back Dylan Sheehan had them in control with outhalf Fionn McGibney adding two conversions.
Ardscoil improved considerably early in the second half but despite a sustained period of pressure - and the sin-binning of Crescent second-row Robbie Scott - they got no return. Crescent put the game beyond doubt when Jason O’Sullivan went over for their third try, McGibney again adding the extras.
Ardscoil refused to give up though and were rewarded when No 8 Kelvin Browne powered over late on.
Crescent now go in search of the double next week when their junior side take on PBC in the final.
