Limerick FC draw in friendly with Oman international team

Limerick FC and Oman played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Markets Field on Friday night.

Limerick hit the front after three minutes when Sean Russell's low cross was diverted to the net by Ibrama Ba, one of three trialists used by Limerick on the night.

In a game played at a friendly pace, space was freely available for all to run into. Oman did just that five minutes later. Djamel Fleelang, another of the trialists, needlessly lunged in and fouled inside the area. Said Obeid converted the spot kick - smashing down the middle.

Oman took the lead in the 13th minute when Omar Al Fazari was afforded too much space down the left. He cut in before unleashing a thunderbolt into the top corner - out of the reach of goalkeeper Freddy Hall.

Only Tony Whitehead survived the half time changes - with Limerick introducing ten subs at the break. Martin Russell clearly focused on securing the league title come Sunday.

That new-look Limerick side were level within ten minutes of the restart. A neat one-two between John O'Flynn and Chris Mulhall saw the former latch onto a looping return ball, before finishing calmly into the bottom corner.

Oman look forward to their trip to the Aviva Stadium next week, while Limerick travel to UCD on Sunday.
