The local club rugby season begins in earnest this weekend when the Limerick Charity Cup gets underway.

Young Munster and UL Bohs get the competition underway with the most atrractive tie on Thursday night in Tom Clifford Park – a game which will see Gearoid Prendergast begin his reign as Young Munster coach against the side he was involved with last season.

That game gets underway at 7.30pm. On Saturday, Garryowen play Old Crescent in Dooradoyle at 2.30pm while Thomond make the trip to Nenagh, also for a 2.30pm kickoff.

The fourth quarter-final – between Bruff and Shannon – takes place next Wednesday, August 31, in Bruff’s Killballyowen Park at 7.30pm.
