Limerick clubs kept apart in Munster Senior Cup draw

LAST season’s beaten finalists Young Munster face a trip to Kanturk as Limerick’s seven representatives were kept apart in the opening round draw for the 2016-2017 Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup.

Seven-time Munster Senior Cup winners Young Munster suffered a disappointing final defeat to 27-time winners Cork Constitution at Thomond Park last May.

Thursday’s draw at UL did not throw up a single Limerick derby in the prestigious competition.

UL-Bohemian will take on holders and five-in-a-row seeking Cork Constitution in the opening round.

Elsewhere, AIL 1B Shannon will take on Sunday’s Well, while AIL Division 1A side Garryowen will travel to Nenagh Ormond. Meanwhile, Thomond face a trip to Cashel, while Old Crescent will entertain Midleton at Rosbrien. 2011 Munster Senior Cup winners will travel to the Mardyke to take on UCC.

Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup draw 2016-2017: Round 1: Shannon v Sunday’s Well; Nenagh ormond v Garryowen; Cashel v Thomond; Dolphin v Highfield, Old Crescent v Midleton; UL-Bohemian v Cork Constitution; Kanturk v Young Munster; UCC v Bruff.
