THE Limerick District Schoolboy League (LDSL) will face Dundalk in the Trophy final at the 2016 Kennedy Cup at UL this Friday, 10.30am.
The LDSL defeated the Inishowen League 1-0 on Thursday to reach the final against the Co Louth side. Filip Mostowy, of Limerick FC, grabbed the all-important goal for the Limerick side in the opening half.
The winners of the Trophy final will claim a 25th-place finish at the 32-team Kennedy Cup competition.
Meanwhile, the Desmond League, who topped Group 2 which included local rivals the LDSL, claimed an excellent eighth-place finish at the Kennedy Cup.
The Desmond League’s hopes of a top five finish ended with two 1-0 defeats to Wexford and 2015 winners Kerry on Thursday.
The Limeick County finished in 29th place in the U-14 interleague competition with successive wins over the West Waterford/East Cork (WWEC) and North Eastern Counties (NEC) Leagues on Thursday.
Ben Coleman, of Cappamore Celtic, and Charleville’s Enda Sheedy scored County’s goals in their 2-0 victory over the WWEC League. County made it back-to-back wins when edging the NEC 1-0, with Sheedy again on target.
