Untimely death forces postponement for Na Piarsaigh and Thurles
SUNDAY’S Munster club SHC semi final between Na Piarsaigh and Thurles Sarsfields has been postponed due to the untimely death of Thurles mentor Jack Griffin.
47-year-old Griffin, a selector and trainer with the Thurles team, died tragically on Saturday after being struck by a car.
The provincial semi final was to take place this Sunday, November 8 in the Gaelic Grounds but has now being rescheduled for Sunday Novemver 15 at 2.00 at the Ennis Road venue.
The duo battle for a Munster final spot against Glen Rovers of Cork or Ballygunner of Waterford.
That means just Bruree will be in Munster club championship action this Sunday.
Bruree play Wolfe Tones of Shannon in the Munster club IHC semi final. The game takes place in Kilmallock at 2.00 in what is a repeat of their 2006 Munster club SHC tie.
The Limerick and Clare champions are attempting to reach the November 22 final against Newcestown (Cork) or Clonakenny (Tipperary).
The third Limerick side in Munster championship action this weekend is Cappagh.
On Saturday (2.00) they play Coolmeen in the Munster club JAFC quarter final.
On the Limerick GAA fixture schedule are the semi finals of the county JBFC on Saturday.
ON Sunday, the county U-21 football championship commences.
