THREE Limerick hurlers are among the 45 nominess for the 2011 GAA GPA All-Stars.

Limerick is one of six counties represented in the extended list, which is dominated by Kilkenny, Tipperary and Dublin.

The Limerick three are Tom Condon, Donal O’Grady and Declan Hannon. Knockaderry’s Tom Condon is nominated for one of the positions in the full back line with Paul Murphy (Kilkenny), Niall Corcoran (Dublin), Paul Curran (Tipperary), Peter Kelly (Dublin), Jackie Tyrrell (Kilkenny), Michael Cahill (Tipperary), David Collins (Galway) and Noel Hickey (Kilkenny).

Granagh-Ballingarry’s Donal O’Grady is nominated for a midfield position along with Michael Fennelly (Kilkenny), Kevin Moran (Waterford), Liam Rushe (Dublin), Gearóid Ryan (Tipperary) and Johnny McCaffrey (Dublin).

In attack, teenager Delcan Hannon of Adare is nominated for a slot in the half forward line along with Henry Shefflin (Kilkenny), Richie Power (Kilkenny), Patrick Maher (Tipperary), Conal Keaney (Dublin), Ryan O’Dwyer (Dublin), Michael Rice (Kilkenny), Noel McGrath (Tipperary) and Pauric Mahony (Waterford).

Earlier this week, Hannon was also selected on the short list for the Breaking Through Player of the Year award after performances in the Bord Gais Energy GAA Hurling U21 Championship.

Also in that short list was Na Piarsaigh’s Shane Dowling.

While it would be a surprise if Limerick were to gain recognition in either of the awards, there was some surprise that Kevin Downes didn’t feature is either short list.

The final team of 15 players for the GAA GPA Hurling All-Stars will be presented at the banquet event at Convention Centre Dublin on Friday October 21.
