CRESCENT College Comprehensive winger, Calvin Nash came off the bench to score a try in the Irish Schools U-18 side’s victory over Scotland at Coolmine RFC.

The exciting Nash was the only local representative on the Ireland squad but he came off the bench to score a try in the second half and he could have had another in an impressive 26-6 win over the Scots. Ireland were only 7-6 up at half time but improved greatly in the second half to record a deserved win.

Nash impressed in Crescent College’s run to Munster Schools Senior Cup success for a second successive season.

Sunday’s game between Ireland and Scotland was part of both countries’ preparations for the European Championship in Poznan from April 10 to 20. Georgia will be Ireland’s first opponents at Opalenica Stadium on Friday, April 11. Should they win that, they will play the winners of France and Italy at Plewiska Stadium on Tuesday, April 15.

Ireland won the tournament back in 2011 and have finished as runners-up on four occasions. The other Munster players in the Ireland squad were Rockwell winger Alan McMahon and second row Sean O’Connor.
