Dave returns to the top of the Leader League

DAVE Slattery has regained his lead at the top of the Limerick Leader Fantasy Football readers league as his ding-dong battle with Brian O’Connell continues.

Both men have hovered around the top of the table since the beginning of the season and both can be forgiven for seeing themselves as eventual champions and winners of a 52” flatscreen TV from Jack Fitzgerald Electrical.

In a low-scoring week, Dave’s tally of 49 points was enough for him to jump ahaead of Brian, who pulled in only 36, a score he’ll be keen to increase considerably if he’s to stay in contention.

Martin McMahon’s ‘Red All STars II’ rise to third place thanks to a 60-point haul while Jason Guerin’s ‘United19’ fall outside the top three and thus the ‘Prize Positions’.

Editor’s note: Meanwhile, at Limerick Leader Towers, cub reporter Owen Hickey increased his lead at the top thanks to a 12-point haul from Aston Villa’s impressive Gabriel Agbonlahor. Indeed his tally of 437 points is enough to see him rise to 30th in the main league.

Just as notably, the dismal performance of editor Alan English continues. After another abject week, the one-time Fantasy League high-flyer finds himself humiliated and perilously close to the bottom of the office table. However, English - rather like the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger - was still putting a brave face on it this week, insisting that he can climb back into the Champions League positions. We shall see.
