ST Munchin’s College and Castletroy College will meet in the only all-Limerick tie in the quarter-finals of this season’s Munster Schools Junior Cup after the draw for the last eight stage of the competition was made this Wednesday.
St Munchin’s produced a storming comeback to edge out local rivals Ardscoil Ris, 23-21, in a pulsating first round tie played at Grove Island this Wednesday. The Corbally side’s reward for their dramatic win is a home quarter-final clash with 2013 Junior Cup winners Castletroy College. Castletroy began their Cup campaign with a 33-10 defeat away to PBC on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in the quarter-final draw, Crescent College Comprehensive will host Rockwell College in Limerick. Last season’s finalists Crescent College produced a powerful second half display to see off Glenstal Abbey at Dooradoyle on a 25-11 scoreline.
Glenstal can still make the semi-finals under the second chance system. However, to do so the Murroe side will have to get the better of PBC in Cork.
Ardscoil Ris are also heading to Cork for their quarter-final fixture having narrowly to St Munchin’s. Ardscoil will face CBC, impressive first round winners over Rockwell.
The Munster Schools Junior Cup quarter-finals will take place on the week of February 24-26. Dates, venues and kick-off times will be confirmed in the coming days.
