Limerick Soccer - Granville move closer to 1A title

Granville took a step closer to Division 1A honours when they beat Caherconlish 2-0 at Glenbrook on Sunday.

Cian Byrnes and Brian O’Doherty netted for the leaders who are two wins from being crowned champions.

Goals from Frank Walsh (2) and Jason Sheehan gave Ballynanty Rvs three vital points against Fairview Rgs B and similarly Shannon got a crucial win beating Dromore Celtic 3-2 courtesy of Evan Glynn, Gerry Kelly and Fergal McCarthy.

In the Div 1B Cup the top two sides met and Hospital edged out Knockainey by the best of three. Nick Hayes scored for Knockainey but goals from Damien Sheehy and Barry Ryan sealed the win.

Hyde Rgs got the better of Hyde in the local derby at Cals Park. Dean Hogan scored for Prospect Priory but Richard Benn netted for Hyde Rgs who went on to win on penalties. Robert Griffin saving the crucial kick for Hyde.

One League game saw Kennedy Park beat Athlunkard Villa 5-1 with Ray Massey scoring three. Stephen McNamara and Frank Cronin also scored for the winners with Philip Clancy replying for Villa.

In Div 2A leaders Aisling beat Weston 6-2 in Cals. Peter Flaherty and Pat O’Donoghue scored for the home side but John Lysaght (2), Brian Danaher, Eoin Nicholas, Damien Collins and Gary O’Toole netted the winning goals.

Goals from David Duggan (2), Eric Conroy and Jonathan Barrett gave Cappamore the points at Summerville Rvs B for whom John Madigan replied.

In the 2A Cup Geraldines B beat old rivals Regional Utd B 5-3. Joe Keane (3) and Paul Campbell (2) accounted for Dines scores while Shane O’Donoghue (2) and Jason Fitzgibbon replied.

Mark Power (3), Rob Doyle (2), Paul Scales (2), Peter Sheehan and Dave Guerin while in the Div 3A cup Glenview beat league leaders Abbey Rvs 3-0 thanks to goals from Pat Carroll, Marcus Cregan and Mike Moynihan

In Div 3B League goals from Mike Nelligan and Noel O’Carroll gave Caherconlish B a 2-1 win over St Pats B.

Granville Rgs B with goals from Danny Heneghan (2), Stephen Folan (2) and Jason Benn beat Shelbourne B 5-1 while Knockainey beat Murroe 3-1; Martin Hickey (2) and John Ryan scored while Dara Ryan replied for Murroe.

In the Ger Ryan Cup Semi-Final a Wesley O’Sullivan goal saw Fairview into the final with victory over Herbertstown while in the Under League 17 Div One Star Rvs beat Corbally Utd 3-0 courtesy of Aaron Nunan, Craig Downes and Tyrone Price.

In the Under 17 Div Two Cup a brace from Aidan O’Brien was not enough for Geraldines as Caherdavin hit five.

Regional Utd beat Shannon Town 3-2 in the Youth League Div One, Byron Fitzgerald, Stephen Hackett and Keith Storan scored for the winners; Stefan Howard and Jordon Downes replied for Shannon while Gillian Pitilov and Nathan Laffan scored in Cappamore’s 3-0 win over Meanus.
