Limerick Soccer - Regional advance in FAI Junior Cup
Regional Utd had a 3-0 win over Corbally on Sunday morning in the only FAI Junior Cup game played over the weekend.
The one outstanding FAI Junior Cup game took place at the weekend when Regional Utd hosted Corbally Utd in Dooradoyle.
Regional Utd won the game with a bit to spare on a day when everything clicked for the winners.
The home side went into the tie on the back of a surprise Tuohy Cup defeat on Thursday evening to Shannon Hibs but showed great character bouncing back with a victory.
Kieran O’Connell slotted the opener when he raced onto Paudie Walsh’s through ball and it took a superb save by Robert Shier to deny Ken Nealon a first half equaliser.
Midway through the second half Peter Nash pulled the ball back from the end line for O’Connell to fire in his and Regional’s second.
A defensive slip up handed Regional their third goal when Peter Nash was upended in the area ad Mick Aherne converted the spot kick to complete the scoring.
