Killeaney were 2-1 down with time almost up away to Adare United in the second round of the Munster Junior Cup when they were offered a lifeline in the form of a last-minute penalty after Gary Kelly was brought down in the area. Seanie Lynch converted to earn extra-time and Killeaney went on to make the most of the reprieve when Paddy O’Brien scored the winner in the first period. Earlier in the game, Kelly had opened the scoring in the 10th minute, Don Lyons equalised ten minutes later and Conor Lyons put Adare in front in the 83rd minute.

In the other Munster Junior Cup game, Carrig Celtic had a comprehensive 3-0 victory away to Glin Rovers B, the goals scored by Pa O’Sullivan, Ray Cahill and Mark Collins.

Glantine stormed to victory with three goals in the last 20 minutes, scored by Con Begley, Pa Delee and Patrick O’Connor.

Rockhill Rovers won 3-2 away to Ferry Rangers, who led twice with goals from Denis Gallagher. Rockhill’s winner was a last-minute own goal.

Richard Hogan Cup

Division 2 leaders, Pallaskenry, proved far too good for Division 4 bottom-of-the-table side, St. Ita’s B, in the second round of the Richard Hogan Cup. Shane Garvey had them 1-0 up at half-time and they made it 4-0 before the end, with Keith Enright and Brian Earls both scoring a penalty and Keith’s brother, Adrian, also getting on the scoresheet.

Kilcornan B overcame their poor league form when they won 5-1 at home to fellow Division 3 side, Ballingarry B. Wesley Mann bagged a brace, Ian O’Gorman and David Kelly also found the target and the other goal was an own goal.

Creeves Celtic also advanced to the 3rd round, winning 3-1 away to Knockaderry.

Premier Division

Shannonside FC moved into joint second place in the Premier Division when Ger Hanlon’s superb volley from the edge of the box secured a 1-0 victory at home to Abbeyfeale United.

Broadford United maintained their 100 percent record since losing on the opening day of the season when they put five without reply past visitors Newcastle West Rovers. They led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Brian Hannigan and Mattie O’Sullivan. They went one better in the second-half, through Tommy Butler, Alan Fitzpatrick and Hannigan again.

Division 1

Having lost two of their first three league games, St. Ita’s have recovered to win all three Division 1 games since, including Sunday’s 3-0 victory at home to Old Mill. Paul Fitzmaurice bagged a brace and the other scorer was Joe Soroka.

Division 2

In Division 2, Carrig Celtic B looked like they might have thrown away the opportunity of recording their first league win of the season when their 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes away to Feenagh was cancelled out by the 55th minute when Tom O’Sullivan scored with a cross-cum-shot and John Coleman volleyed home a corner but they recovered to snatch a 70th minute winner. The Carrig Celtic B scorers were Tony Doyle (2) and Padge McCarthy.

Division 4

The pivotal moment in the Division 4 game between Creeves Celtic B and Newcastle West Rovers B came when Creeves B thought they had scored their second to level to game at 2-2. However, the referee deemed that the ball hadn’t crossed the line and Rovers went straight upfield and scored to make it 3-1. Darren Ahern, who had also scored the home team’s first goal, pulled a goal back to leave the final score at 3-2 to the visitors.

FAI Youths Cup

Newcastle West had a notable 4-2 victory at home to Listowel Celtic in the second round of the FAI Youths Cup. Mateusz Pakulski, Sean Murphy and Paul Downes all got on the scoresheet and the other goal was an own goal.
