SCOIL FHIONAIN CAKE SALE SUCCESS: As usual, the astonishing generosity of the people of Kilfinane made our Annual Cake Sale a huge success.‚ We raised an amazing €1,575.00. Thanks to all who baked, bought, gave bric-a-brac, attended the sale, sent donations and supported in any way. Thanks also to Centra, Kilfinane and the following shops in Charleville; Lee’s Centra, Supervalue, Dunnes, Brudair’s and Lidl who kindly gave donations. We are truly grateful to everybody.
KILFINANE PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: The Annual General Meeting of Kilfinane Photographic Society was held on Monday night last 18 November at McCarthy’s Lounge. The meeting reviewed the activities of the Society since its inaugural meeting on 7 March 2012, the highlight which was the publication of Pictorial Memories of Kilfinane Volume which was launched on 7 December 2012 and which has proved a huge success. The Treasurers report reflected the income from the Book Sales which surpassed all expectations. Plans are in place for the publication of Volume 2 in December 2014 with a lot of work already done to date. The following Officers and Committee were elected as follows : Hon. President : Maurice O’Regan, Chairman : Seamus Ryan, Vice Chairperson : Joan O’Dea, Secretary : Hugh Murphy, treasurer : Sr. Patricia, Asst. Treasurer : Henry McCarthy, Committee ; James O’Brien, Fr. OPEN COURSING CLUB CUP PRESENTATIONS : On Friday night last November 15, at Teach na Cille, Kilfinane Open Coursing were presented with Perpetual Memorial Cups and trophies in memory of two local coursing enthusiasts Mikey Hanly and Jim O’Brien, that will be Prizes for the forthcoming Kilfinane Coursing Meeting on Sunday 15 December which will commence in Kilfinane (The Square) at 10am. The Mikey Hanley Perpetual Memorial Cup was presented by his daughters Lilian Tuohy and Ger Hanley to Pad Joe Treacy President Kilfinane Opening Coursing Club while Esther O’Brien presented the Jim O’ Brien Perpetual Cup to John O’Farrell, Kilfinane Open Coursing Club. The Open Coursing meeting on 15 December is the first of two meetings orgauinised by the club with second being held on Saturday 15 February 2014.
BLACKROCK G.A.A. CLUB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING : T O RECONVENE : Blackrock G.A.A. Club Annual General Meeting has to be reconvened as on Sunday last at Ardpoatick Community Centre there was not a quorum of members in attendance, this coupled with the fact that no nominations were returned for positions on the top table, as the Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer had all let it be known that they were not seeking re election. The meeting has been re scheduled for Tuesday 3 December at Ardpatrick Community commencing at 7.30pm, all club members are asked to attend, new members are welcome.
GLENROE LADIES CLUB: On Sunday December 1 Glenroe Ladies Club will be holding the Glenroe/Ballyorgan Seniors Christmas Lunch in Deebert House. Further details of this will be published soon.
