JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS LOSE OUT: After winning the Co JAFC title on Sunday week last, Mitchelstown were in action on Sunday in the Munster JAFC quarter final in Fermoy against Keel (Kerry). It was a new venture for Mitchesltown who never contested a Munster championship game before. After a good start with two James Sheehan pointed frees it was Keel who took control and they led 0-4 to 0-2 at half time. The Mid Kerry side defended very well in the second half and with Garry Sayers and Liam Sheehan in great scoring form they moved 0-11 to 0-2 clear in the closing moments. Anthony O’Brien had a late pointed free for ‘Town. The final whistle followed with Keel winners by 0-11 to 0-3. Mitchelstown are due to meet Kilmurry in the Co JAFL semi final this week end at a venue and title to be decided. ST. FANAHAN’S WELL: The Novena to St. Fanahan’s Well started on Saturday last and will continue to Monday November 25 the local Feast Day. Many people have made the annual trip to the ‘well’ which dates back many years. There will be a special concelebrated Mass on Monday night next November 25 at 7.30pm in the Parish Church. The main celebrant will be Fr Pat Linehan former curate in Mitchelstown and current PP in Ballyhea.

The Monday Morning Club is a newly formed group based in Ballindangan Hall. Its a Christmas theme for the next few meetings. On Monday next Nov 25 10.30am there will be a demonstration on making a Christmas wreath. Monday December 9 : Come along and make your own Christmas wreath. There will people on hand to help out. Monday Dec 16th Decorate your own Christmas cake. Help will be also available for this.

There is an open invitation to all to come on Monday mornings from 10.30am for a cuppa tea and a chat and availing of the help for both projects.

THE LATE MARY MURPHY: The death occurred peacefully on November 13 at Abbeylands Nursing Home Kildorrery of Mary Murphy (Nee O’Donnell). The late Mary or Corrogurm Mitchelstown was formerly of Ballyhurst, Tipperary. She was predeceased by her husband Mikie. The late Mary was very well known in the Corrogurm area.

The funeral came from her brothers residence in Ballyglass Tipperary on Friday for Requiem Mass and burial in Mitchelstown. Interment took place in teh adjoining cemetery. She is sadly missed by her brothers Johnny and Lawrence, brother in law Jimmy, sisters in law Gretta (O’Donnell) Kitty (Bagwell) Peggy (O’Flynn) and Ann (Burke) nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
