CARDS: The results from last week’s card game at Monagea Parish Hall were 1st, with eleven games, Donal and Maureen Mulcahy, 2nd, with ten games, John Casey and Noreen Couglan. Table prizes Tom Purcell and Noel McCarthy, Donie Donovan and James Bridgeman, Pat Lynch and Jimmy Murphy. Raffle Annie Leahy, Chrissie Roche, Mary Collins (x2). The game continues every Wednesday night at 9pm.

GRAVEYARD MASS: The annual Monagea Graveyard mass will be celebrated in Monagea church on Sunday 24th November at 12 noon. The graves will be blessed after mass. A collection for the maintenance of the graveyard will be taken up at the Saturday night mass, November 23rd and at the special mass on Sunday, November 24th. Your support of the collection would be greatly appreciated.

PARISH MISSION: The Monagea Parish Mission opened on Sunday night last with a big attendance. It will conclude on this Friday night with the theme “We are Gods family”. The evening sessions are at 7.30pm. The masses are at 7am and 9.30pm.

RAMBLING HOUSE: The next Rambling House at Monagea Parish Hall will be on Friday 29th November at 8.30pm. All musicians, singers, dancers and storytellers are welcome to attend. Since the Rambling House started in May there has been great talent on show every night. Therefore it would be nice to see a big audience to appreciate the talent of the performers. All funds raised will go to the Parish Hall fund.

MONAGEA GAA 300 CLUB DRAW: The second draw in the Monagea GAA 300 club will be held on this Saturday night. The draw will take place in Strand following the AGM of the club. There are still a small number of places available for the last three draws. If you would like to join then contact any member of the club. The 300 club is one of the major fundraisers for the club each year and your support is very much appreciated.

MONAGEA GAA CLUB AGM: The Annual General Meeting of Monagea GAA club will be held in Monagea Parish Hall on this Saturday night at 8pm. There will be a review of 2013 and a look forward to 2014. Most people will appreciate the amount of work done by the officers of the club and those that look after the teams. It would be good to see a good crowd in attendance and show your appreciation of the work done. Also if anyone has any issues to raise the AGM is the place to do it and get those issued sorted by all the club members.

WEST LIMERICK 102FM: West Limerick 102fm, the local community radio station, is holding a fundraising ceili at Knockaderry Hall on this Friday night November 22nd. Music will be provided by Donie Nolan and dancing commences at 9.30pm. Refreshments will be served and your support would be greatly appreciated.

On this Sunday November 24 the monthly car boot sale will be held at Newcastle West Community Centre. With Christmas coming up this is a great opportunity to pick up a bargain or get rid of some excess items from your home. Further information can be got by ringing 069 66200.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FOR CHARITY: On this Friday night, November 2, the big switch on of the spectacular seasonal lights at the Noonan family home in Tullig North, Templeglantine will take place at 7pm. Santa will be there to switch the lights on. The lights will be on until Sunday January 12, 2014. Over the last number of years Tony, Hannah and their daughter Siobhán have raised a huge amount of money for charity. Last year over €14,000 was raised despite the recession. This year the Brothers of Charity Foynes and Newcastle West, Acquired Brain Injury Castleisland, Adare Branch of Alzheimer Society and Milford Hospice will benefit. One of the highlights for the children will be a special Christmas party on December 7 at 5pm. Santa will again be present on that night. The All Ireland winning Carrigkerry Wren Boys will provide some musical entertainment.
