CHOIR: The Queen of Peace Choir practice on Tuesdays from 8-9pm in the Church. They perform at Sunday 11am mass. New members are very welcome.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION: Adult Education Classes resume in the parish very soon. They are many and varied and will be held in Janesboro and Galvone School and the Hall beside the Garda Station. GALVONE N.S.: A Clothing Bank is now available in Galvone NS school car park to help with fundraising for the school. It is suitable for used/ unwanted clothes, shoes, belts and bags. It will be available to the community during school hours.

TIDY TOWNS: Janesboro Tidy Towns group have been doing a fabulous job all throughout the summer. Congratulations to them on qualifying once again for the ‘Going for Gold’ Final, which they won last year. Take a stroll locally and see their hard work. They are running a ‘Tidiest Street/ Avenue’ Competition. There will be adjudication under various categories – control of weeding, absence of litter, individual front garden, planting, upkeep and general tidiness. The winners will be announced at a planned Community Day – Date to be confirmed. They meet every Tuesday at 6.30pm outside Queen of Peace School to weed and clean the streets. ALCOHOLICS ANNONYMOUS: The Sarsfield Group meets in the Maldron Hotel, Lough Gur room, 3rd floor every day. The times are: Sunday, 11am & 4pm; Monday & Tuesday, 1pm & 6pm; Wednesday, 11am & 6pm; Thursday, 1pm & 6pm; Friday, 1pm; Saturday, 11am. The O Connell Street Group meet in the Augustinian church basement on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 1pm. A Polish speaking group meet at the same venue on Thursdays

PRAYER GROUP: The Good Shepherd prayer group meet on Tuesdays in their house on the Roxboro Road. They meet at 8pm and all are welcome to attend.

LECTO DIVINA: This group meet every Monday evening in the parish Resource Centre at 8pm. There is an open invitation to all who would like to join in.

ACTIVE AGE GROUP: The Queen of Peace Active Age group has re-opened after the summer break. They meet on Wednesdays at 3pm in the Janesboro FC house. All are welcome- old and new members.

M.S. LIMERICK: The regional office at ‘Tara’, St. Nessan’s Road have many activities planned for the coming months. Chiropody, Art, Support Group, Electro Magnetic Bed, Powerplate, Physio, Carer’s Group, Music Therapy and Aqua Aerobics – to name a few.

On Friday October 11 there will be a charity Spinnathon at Thomond Park.

On Saturday October 12 we are hoping for a great presence at the Ladies Mini Marathon.

The Crescent College Transition Year are willing to teach older people and people with disabilities about modern technology.

CLARE’S WISH: A Limerick man, Kevin Clancy, has founded Ireland’s only charity organisation to grant once in a lifetime wishes to both adults and children. The charity will be launched in Thomond Park on Saturday, October 12. For further information Google ‘ Clare’s Wish Foundation’.

CARE & REPAIR: A team of volunteers who do home repair jobs free of charge for older people and people with disabilities in Queen of Peace are to extend their services.

LEGION OF MARY: The Legion of Mary, Rosa Mystica Presidium has been active in the parish for 58 years. 6 members visit the housebound, those in nursing homes and St Camillus Hospital. They could do with some more members and volunteers. Call to the Resource Centre any Tuesday night between 7-8pm.

LIMERICK WOMENS’ NETWORK: If you know of anyone who is receiving a Job Seekers payment please let them know of this upcoming course. €10 participant fee will be paid for every session attended to assist with travel expenses and tea and coffee will be provided.

WORK MATTERS- This course will provide women an opportunity to examine a changed workplace culture and develop skills in a supportive environment. Participants will be assisted in the preparation of individual goal plans. DATES: September 23 & 30; October 7, 14 & 21; November 4, 11, 18 & 25; December 2.
