MATCH REPORT – DESMOND LEAGUE LADIES U14 DIVISION 1: Newcastle West 0 Adare United 3, Shannon Parbat (3). On a wet and unseasonably cold lunchtime, NCW and Adare played a very sporting and entertaining game cheered on by large numbers of supporters on both sides in NCW. Three players were making their debut for Adare United – Kristina O’Brien, Shannon Parbat and Amy Harnett – and all went on to make a big contribution to the game. Adare attacked from the kick off and NCW’s goal remained under sustained attack with Aoife Hickey and Sive O’ Halloran delivering some great balls forward. Amy Harnett was full of running and Edel Kelliher was linking well with midfield. Mid-way through the first half, Adare were awarded a free-kick and Shannon Parbat converted from long range. NCW, however, held firm and at half-time Adare led by a single goal. NCW changed their formation at half-time and introduced some new players in the second half and the momentum swung in their direction. The back four of Gillian, Aoife, Aisling and Jessie were up to the challenge and kept them at bay. Kristina O’Brien pulled off a great finger-tip save to deny NCW a certain goal to keep them scoreless. Hazel Alfred was everywhere – being the first point of attack from defence. Having weathered NCW’s period of dominance, Adare again took control and two goals in quick succession from Shannon put the game beyond NCW’s reach. Kate O’Farrelly and Ciara Moroney came on in midfield and defence respectively midway through the second half and played their part in the win. Adare’s squad for the match – Kristina O’Brien, Jessie Shire Williams, Aisling Smyth, Gillian O’Donnell, Aoife Mulyneaux, Sive O’Halloran, Hazel Alfred, Kate O’Farrelly, Ciara Moroney, Aoife Hickey, Amy Harnett, Edel Keliher and Shannon Parbat. Trainer : Eoin Ryan. Manager : Eithne O’Riordan.

Classes will commence in Adare, Heritage Centre from Thurs 19th September at 10.30am. The first class is a free open morning for all to experience this wonderful form of meditation.
So what is Japa Yoga Mantra Meditation? It is a style of meditation that uses sounds and mantras to calm the mind and energise the body. Participants sit together and repeat powerful chants out loud that have been used over the centuries to increase the vibration of the body. This energising process allows healing within the physical, emotional and mental areas of your life to occur.
Japa appeals to all ages and our classes usually have a healthy mix of the young to the not so young, creating a fun community of like minded people. If you are interested in learning more about this form of meditation call Helen on 0862583324 or Tom on 0863141185.
