CRECORA CAMOGIE: Congratulations to our U16s and Juniors who both recoded wins in their respective championship campaigns last week. Our U16s overcame a really good Newcastlewest team to book their place in the County A final against Ballyagran, while the Juniors claimed victory over our near neighbours Patrickswell.
NAOMH MHICHÍL C.C.É: Our traditional music classes will resume this Friday night 13th September in Manister hall from 5.00p.m. - 7.30p.m. Beginner classes are available in tin-whistle, fiddle, accordion, concertina, flute, banjo, bodhrán and drums. We also welcome intermediate and advanced pupils to our classes. We also have a traditional singing class this year. There are still some places available in our classes. PATRICKSWELL POP-UP SHOP: Our neighbours in Patrickswell will open a Pop-Up Shop on Saturday 21st and 28th September in aid of Fr. Derek Leonard’s Mission in Peru and St Joseph’s Orphanage in Romania. Everything from a needle to an anchor will be for sale, and all items will be in mint condition, with bargains for all ages. The premises have been kindly made available for by John Leddin. The shop will open at 10am each day, with tea, coffee and cakes available. Raffle tickets will also be on sale, so please come along for a shopping experience with a difference.
CHALLENGE: Adare to Survive is a 7.5km military style obstacle course taking place in Clonshire Equestrian Centre, Adare, Co Limerick on Sunday 29 September. Cliona’s Foundation which provides financial assistance to the families of critically ill children is the charity partner and participants are invited to Endeavour/ Endure/ Enjoy a unique physical and mental challenge, individually or part of a 4 person team, to raise funds for a charity or club of their choice. KNOCKFIERNA HERITAGE SOCIETY: will hold their annual outing to Cahir Castle, The Swiss Cottage, Rock of Cashel, Holy Cross Abbey on Sunday 29th. September. WELLNESS WORKSHOP: ‘Suicide or Survive’ are running a Wellness Workshop in Drombanna Day Care Centre on October 12th from 9.30am to 5pm. The workshop will be informal and relaxed. It will be facilitated by people with both lived life experience of mental health difficulties and people with experience of working in the mental health area. They combine personal testimony with practical tools and tips that you can use in your everyday life. There is no charge for this and a light lunch will be served. GROW YOUR OWN FRIUT AND VEG: Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, (formerly County Limerick VEC) are now enrolling for FETAC 3 Grow your own Vegetables and FETAC 4 Grow your own Fruit courses in West Limerick. Both courses will take place in Ardagh, on Blackhill Organic Farm, and run one day per week from the week of September 16th 2013 to June 2014. Each participant will have the opportunity to learn how to grow a wide range of delicious foods using organic methods with an emphasis on practical skills and an opportunity to gain certification.
