Grow Your Own Food: Limerick & Clare Education and Training Board are now enrolling for FETAC 4 Grow your Own Vegetables and FETAC 4 Grow your Own Fruit courses in West Limerick. Both courses will take place in Ardagh, on Blackhill Organic Farm, and run one day per week from the week of September 16th 2013 to June 2014. Each participant will have the opportunity to learn how to grow a wide range of delicious foods using organic methods with an emphasis on practical skills and an opportunity to gain certification. Knockdown Vintage Club: Knockdown vintage club in association with Killeaney AFC are holding their 3rd vintage day on Sunday 22nd September. There will be all the usual attractions on the day including Thresher display, farrier, bouncy castle, barbecque, digger challenge, novelty sport games, bonny baby & glamorous granny. This year there will be a new novelty for the children, it’s a barrel train which should provide a lot of fun for the children. There is also a new attraction on the vintage side, it’s the tractor build which requires a group of men to assemble a vintage tractor in a matter of minutes. The show starts at 12 n00n with the tractor build at 2pm. There will be music and a raffle after the show in the Knockdown Arms.

Recent Deaths: The death took place during the week of Bridget Ward, mother of Eamonn, Cluain Mhuire to whom we send our deepest sympathy. The death took place after a long illness bravely borne of Teresa Fitzgerald, Castlegrey. To her husband Aidan and daughters, relatives, neighbours and friends we offer our deepest sympathy.

All Ireland Senior Camogie Referee: Pallaskenry GAA would like to congratulate former secretary Ger O Dowd on his appointment as referee for the All Ireland Senior Camogie final on Sunday 15th September. This is a marvellous achievement for Ger who has quickly moved up through the refereeing ranks. He will be ably assisted by Brendan & Pauric O Shea, Junior “Hawkeye” Mulcahy and John Griffin.The club is indeed very proud of Ger and would like to wish them all the best of luck on the day.
