Comfirmation: Newly appointed Bishop of Limerick, Dr. Brendan Leahy, will visit Bruff on this Friday, 26th April where he will administer the sacrament of Confirmation to the boys and girls attending Scoil Dean Cussen, Bruff. The ceremony commences at 11 o’clock.

Gala WeekEnd: Arrangements are being made by Meanus Social Club for the Gala Week-End which they are holding on 28th, 29th and 30th June. Events will include a Family Quiz on the Friday night, a fun Walk/Run on Saturday morning, a musical evening on Saturday night. A sports day will be held in the Sportsfield on Sunday preceded by a fancy dress parade. A duck race will be held on the river on Sunday evening and the weekend activities will finish with a gala card game on Sunday night. As this is the year of the Gathering the committee felt it should be marked in some way so a fine weekend is hoped for when everybody can come out and celebrate with their family and friends.

Dog Night: Plans are well advanced for the Bruff Community Playground Fundraising Family Night at the Dogs which is being held at Limerick Greyhound Race Track on Saturday night, 11th May. Tickets at €10 each are now on sale from any member of the Committee and must be bought in advance to ensure the Committee benefits. Children under 16 go free. As well as twelve races on the card a super raffle will take place with a fifteen month old Angus Heifer as 1st Prize. “Keep her, sell her, bred her, freeze her the choice is yours” A sapling Greyhound Pup has been donated by renowned Kilkenny Greyhound trainer, Paul Hennessy and will be auctioned on the night. A Best Dressed Lady’s competition will also be held with a voucher from a well known Boutique going to the winner. A great night with entertainment for all the family is assured so people are urged to buy their tickets in advance.

We are now looking to run a Jobs Club in Bruff, if interested please contact the Community Office on 061 389841 or bgmcouncil@gmail.com. Participants can be met on a one-to-one basis or join a two day CV & Interview Skills Training Course. This is a free and confidential service.

Set Dancing: There are only two more nights of Set Dancing in Meanus before the Summer break, 24th April and 1st May. It commences at the later time of 8.45p.m. and Wednesday, 1st of May is Party night and all are welcome.

Board Na nOg: Well done to all the u9/u10 hurling players who made the journey to Na Piarsaigh last Saturday morning. The u9s played some great hurling and fine goals by Jake Farrell, Michael O’Riordan, Morgan O’Sullivan and Adam Murphy kept Bruff in the game until the last couple of minutes when Na Piarsaigh scored a few goals to win the game.

The u10s struggled in the first half but put in a much better second half performance against a strong Na Piarsaigh side.

Thanks to Na Piarsaigh for the hospitality and we look forward to a visit form the boys in blue in the near future.

The U8 footballers took part in a blitz in Bruree. We fielded 2 teams and had some fine performances against Croom and Bruree.

Our u12 footballers traveled to Galbally last Thursday , they battled bravely in terrible conditions but fell short to a good Galbally side.

Excellent performances were given by Eoin Murphy and Gearoid O’Leary, special thanks to the 2 u10 players Diarmuid Dennehy and Darragh Butler who lined out at short notice,

Next up for the U12 footballers is a home game against Monaleen on Thurs May 2nd, Throw in 6:45pm

Due to confirmation in Bruff the u12 hurling game against Kildimo/Pallaskenry scheduled for Thurs April 25th will be rescheduled to a later date.

The U 16 footballers take on Cappamore on Monday 29th, Throw in 7pm in Bruff.

Tractor and Car Run: Greybridge Classic Club are organizing a Tractor and Car Run for next Sunday, 28th April. The event commences with Breakfast at Dempsey’s at 10.30 a.m. The Run will commence at 12 noon and return at approx 2.30 p.m. where refreshments will be served. All proceeds will go to Motor Neuron research, the Arc Unit in Limerick Regional Hospital and the Cliona Foundation.
