Parish Clerks Collection: On this weekend April 27/28th, the Parish Clerk’s Envelope Collection will be taken up in Castlemahon and in Feohanagh. We all appreciate and are grateful for the good work and excellent service given by both our Sacristans Julia in Castlemahon and Ann in Feohanagh. in Recognition for this good service throughout the year a good response to next weekends collection will be appriciated. Please mark your envelope ‘Castlemahon’ or ‘Feohanagh’.
Seven Steps: The next seven steps meeting will take place in Feohanagh sacristy on Monday night, April 29th at 7.30pm. All interested in taking part are welcome to attend.
Parish Mission: The Feohanagh Castlemahon parish mission opened on Sunday night last, April 21st at 7.00pm in Feohanagh Church and 8.30pm in Castlemahon Church, and will continue throughout the week with mass in both churches each morning at 7.00am and 10.00am and evening mission at 7.00pm in Feohanagh church and 8.30 in Castlemahon Church. With much thanks to to Fr. Duggan P.P for organizing the Parish Mission which is conducted by Fr. Seamus Enright CSSR and Fr. Derek Meskell CSSR. It has been four years since the last parish mission took place and the attendances during the week to date have been large with people from outside also attending. The themes for the remainder of the week : Thursday night April 25th- Cherishing Home and Family: Participation with symbols associated with education, Baptism, 1st Holy Communion, Food for the family, family & Friends abroad, and the Faithful Departed. Friday night April 26th: a celebration of community life, involving parish organisations, parish groups doing community work etc. The mission will close on Friday night April 26th and with sincere thanks to Fr. Meskell, Fr. Enright and Fr. Duggan and all, the good people who have attended once again all ‘Journeying together in Faith and Hope’.
Sympathy: The death took place of Bernadette O’ Connor Castlemahon Village and Teacher at S.M.I Newcastle West co. Limerick. Sympathy to her sister Imelda McCarthy, Her Brother Kieran, Uncle Paddy Lyons, Brother in-law Tom, Sister in-law Mary, nephews, nieces cousins and relatives and friends, May She Rest in Peace.
Sympathy also to Terrance Leonard and Family Ballinoe Castlemahon on the death of his mother: Peg Leonard, Ringwood, Newcastle West, May She Rest in Peace.
ICA: The Annual General Meeting of the guild was held on April 8th, Rita Horgan, Information officer presided over the meeting. Reports from the president, Treasurer, P.R.O and Competition Secretary.
The Following officers were elected;- President Nuala Condon, Vice President Bridie O’ Connor, Secretary Maureen Hennessy, International Officer Maggie Fitzpatrick, Sports and Leisure Officer Margaret Keating, arts and Crafts Officer Mary Phillips, Hostresses Ann Nash and Margaret Coughlan. a vote of sympathy was extended to the family and relatives of Mary Cussen (former member), Jane McDonagh, Vourneen Heffernan and Nora Garvey, who died recently. May they Rest in Peace. The raffle winner was Pat Kennedy. Those who had full attendance during the year were: Kathleen Nash, Helen McEnery, Margaret Coughlan, Margaret O’ Donoghue, and Annette Coughlan. The Results for the competition winners were 1st: Bridie O’ Connor and Kathleen Nash, 2nd: Annette Coughlan, Nuala Condon and Agnes Normoyle, 3rd: Ann Lynch. A delicious tea was served by Ann Lynch and Maureen Hennessy. The federation meeting of the guild will be held on April 29th, the guest is Ann Marie Dennison to celebrate International Officers night. The Guild will have a meal and a visit a Garden Centre during May, Lets hope the weather will have improved for the gardening enthusiasts. Hostesses for April 29th are Pat Kennedy and Agnes Normoyle.
