The Form is available from each Team Manager or on www.adare.lgfc.ie. Congratulations to Sophie O’Callaghan and Lauren Ryan who represented Limerick in the Munster Semi-Final at U14 Level against Kerry in Tralee. Mungret /St. Paul’s hosted a Football Blitz for Under 10 Girls and teams from Adare, St. Ailbe’s, Mungret /St. Pauls and St. Patrick’s participated. Each team got to play three twenty minute matches and for some it was their first time taking part in such an event. Great heart, spirit and skill were shown by all teams at a highly enjoyable event. A special thank you to the Team Managers – Martin O’Farrelly and Eddie Sweeney. Adare’s squad was Alice Murphy, Anna Mockler, Alison Roche, Bianca Marias, Carla Griffin, Chloe Forde, Claire Roche, Erica O’Callaghan, Francesca Neilan, Hannah Sweeney, Isla Hoare, Lucy Coyle, Sally Smyth, Sara O’Farrelly. Last Friday saw Adare U12 girls entertain Fr. Casey’s in round five of the 2013 West Championship. A lovely sunny evening in the Manor Fields provided the perfect setting for a fast free flowing match which was enjoyed by the many spectators. The first half was keenly contested with play moving from end to end at a hectic pace. Both defences were strong, allowing very few clear scoring opportunities. The Abbeyfeale side eventually opened the scoring with a goal resulting from impressive interplay between their forwards. Scoring chances continued to be at a premium, however Adare managed an equalising goal just before halftime when a looping shot from midfield found the Fr Casey’s net.

Play at the beginning of the second half followed the same pattern as the first with the teams exchanging points. As the half progressed, however, the pace of the game began to tell and spaces started appearing for both sets of forwards to exploit. Crucially, Adare were able to take advantage of a much larger squad to bring on fresh legs in the later stages of the game. Adare took better advantage of the more open game adding a further 3-2 to their score. This was decisive and, with Fr. Casey’s failing to convert a number of good chances of their own, Adare ran out winners by a score line that was not truly reflective of the close contest that had taken place. Adare’s squad on the day was Eve Murphy, Muireann McCarthy, Gillian O’Donnell, Kate O’Farrelly, Aoife Hickey, Jean Morrissey, Annie Giltenane, Faye Morgan, Amy Looney, Siobhan Lowry, Jenna Mulcaire, Chloe Moore, Ainne Finn, Maria Toomey, Louise Butler, Sive O’Halloran, Martha Stack, Mai Keating, Anna Neilan, Ailbhe McGinnis, Aoife Kirwan, Aileen Thomas and Jessica Evans. On Wednesday 17 April, Adare played Monagea in their first Championship match of the season on the main Adare GAA Pitch. The conditions were truly dreadful with gale-force winds blowing from the club-house end of the pitch as well as occasional rain.

Monagea played with the gale in the first half and led by 3-5 to 1-1 at half time. Adare slowly but surely clawed back the lead during the second half but were never able to completely close the gap. Monagea ended up winning the match by 4-5 to 3-4. Adare’s next match is against Drom / Broadford at home on 24 April.
