Bereavement: The sudden death of James Quinlivan Broadford at the age of 64 came as a shock to the whole locality. Jim as he was affectionately known was a great character and a most obliging man, who had a great pair of hands capable of taking on any task, no matter how big or small the job, he was always willing to help. He was a qualified Rural Science teacher having studied at the Crawford Institute in Cork but his love of the outdoors including animals, nature and his regard for the safeguard of the environment let him choose a different path. He was a well-read man and his advice on any topic or subject was highly regarded and always sought. His Requiem mass was celebrated in Our Lady of the Snows by Fr. O’Dea P.P. Dromcollogher/Broadford assisted by Canon Ambrose our former P.P., Canon F. Duhig Newcastle West and Fr. John Daly Limerick and afterwards he was laid to rest in Springfield cemetery, to his brothers Mossie and John, sisters Mary, Eileen and Kathleen, his brothers-in-law, his sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, all his relatives, neighbours and friends we extend our deepest sympathy. Ar deis lámh Dé go raibh an anam dilis.

Lourdes Coffee Morning: The Coffee Morning held on Sunday morning last after the 9.30am Mass was very well supported and the organizers are very grateful to all who subscribed to the worthy cause. If you missed the Coffee Morning you can still subscribe to the fund by contacting the college.

Tidy Towns: It’s that time of year again when the Tidy Towns committee prepares for action with regard to putting in place a programme to enhance the look of the village and surrounding area for 2013. Last’s years gain of points in the overall context were mainly due to the placing of the large flower boxes in strategic places around the area, these boxes were mainly funded by grants from West Limerick Resources, so this year with a lot of these grants not available anymore, a campaign to look for sponsorship for the hanging baskets from clubs, organizations and individuals to help defray costs and with a good response to our annual Church Gate collection later in the year, all will help us continue to carry out more improvements this year. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
