ALZHEIMER SOCIETY: The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is running a course ‘Living with Dementia/Learning Together one evening a week and commenced on Thursday last with the second night this Thursday April 25th. This course is for family carers of people with dementia in the Mid West The Society’s Regional Office is on the second floor., George’s Quay House, George’s Quay Limerick. DANCING CLUB: This Friday April 26th the West Limerick set dancing club are holding a music evening at the Railway Bar Abbeyfeale. Music for the event is by The Ger Murphy Ceili Band with proceedings commencing at 9:30pm.

CAR BOOT: The monthly car boot sale and indoor market in aid of West Limerick 102fm is scheduled for Sunday May 12th at the Community Centre Newcastle West from 9 to 3pm with admission €2. Gates will open at 7:30am and all wishing to participate can dial Marian on 087-6866450.

MAYFAIR: The annual May Fair and Vintage Rally is scheduled for Sunday May 19th. This is the main fundraiser for the Dromcollogher Respite Centre. The public can help by donating items for the various stalls including bric-a-brac, bottles etc as in previous years. The raffle tickets are now on sale. All large saleable items can be collected or if you wish to book a stall or car boot all are welcome to dial 063-83934.

PASTROL AREA: This year’s annual pilgrimage to Knock will take place on Sunday June 9th. This pastrol area pilgrimage to Knock includes the parishes of Newcastle West, Killeedy, Ardagh Carrickerry, Mahoonagh, Monagea, Dromcollogher Broadford and Feenagh Kilmeedy. The bus fare is €16 and all can contact their local clergy.

SPRING CLEAN: Killeedy Bord Na Nog are organising a fundraising campaign at the Community Hall in Raheenagh on Sunday May 19th. All are welcome to participate so declutter and spring clean your home and drop all your unwanted and saleable items at the Hall before the above date. Come along on the day and browse among all the bargains, furniture, books, toys, C.D’s, D.V.D.’s etc something for all ages, and a bargain is welcome at any time.

CHURCH AFFAIRS: The Altar servers for St Ita’s church Ashford to commence their week this Sunday April 28th are Ben Mulcahy Mauricetown and T.J. Kelly Ballagh.

The reader for Ashford Mass is Saturday evening is Patricia McEnery Noonan with Eucharistic Ministers Ita McEnery and Denis Kirby and Basket Collector Maurice McAuliffe.

The reader for Raheenagh Mass this coming Sunday morning is Helen Forde with Eucharistic Minister Denis Casey and Patrick Forde and basket collector Aidan Forde. Note the change of churches takes place the first weekend in May when the Saturday evening mass on May 4th at 7:30pm will be celebrated in Raheenagh and on Sunday May 5th the 10:30am Mass will be held in Ashford.

CARDS: The winners from Friday night’s card game at The Village Inn were Oliver Cunningham Raheenagh and Martin Sheehan Newcastle West. Second to Rita Kelly Mauricetown and Tom Dore Ashford.

The Tuesday night card winners from the Hall in Raheenagh were game one first prize divided among Criss and Con, Danny and Mike, Vinny and John with Monica and Pauline. Table prizes to Jimmy and Bridget, Con and Patsy, Jimmy and Bridget. The raffle winners were Con Aherne, Breda Roche, Danny Barry, Tony Kelly and Margaret O’Regan.

The game two winners were Marie and Peg, second May and Maura. Table prizes to first Monica and Pauline second Kitty and Pat and lucky Kitty and Pat also won third prize. The raffle winners were €50 Con Cregan, €30 Frank Curtin, €20 Mrs O’Donnell, €20 Bridget Madigan. Congrats to all winners.

The four €30 lucky dip winners were Joe Mulcahy seller Keating’s Shop, Danny Cremin seller Willie O’Brien, Neily Browne seller Barry Casey, Margaret Greaney seller Joanne Relihan. The jackpot is now €5,100 and the draw takes place this Thursday night at The Village Inn Ashford.
