LENTEN STATIONS OF THE CROSS 2013: For the Friday nights during the Lenten season it is planned to celebrate the Stations of the Cross in different areas of the parish. Starting time for each night is 7.30 p.m.
As this is a Parish event, we encourage as many as possible to attend. We also ask those in their own areas to help as much as possible on the night itself.
As a reminder, we will let you know each week where the following weeks Stations will be held. On Friday next, February 15, the Stations of the Cross will commence at 7.30pm in Reilig Mhuire. We hope as many as possible from the Parish will attend.

CAPPAGH PARISH: Cappagh parish is hosting a Fr. Ted Valentine’s Special, Saturday February 16 at 8pm, in Rathkeale House Hotel. Prizes on the night for “Cappagh Vision Song Contest”, “Lovely Lady,” “Nicest Tea Pot”, “Straightest Sandwich”, and the best “Grace before Meals”.

ASKEATON AFC CAR BOOT SALE, SUNDAY FEBRUARY 17: The next Car Boot Sale will be held at Pairc Eas Geitine on Sunday, February 17 and will be held on every third Sunday of each month forthwith. JOBS CLUB: Jobs Club is coming to Askeaton on the first Friday of every month, from 2pm to 4pm, there will be someone from the Jobs Club in the Tourist Office to help with information on getting back to work.
This is a free service and is run by West Limerick Resources. They will attend once a month to help with interview techniques, CVs and much more. Do not automatically think you know how to conduct yourself in an interview or write out a CV. (Most of these are done on-line now, so take advantage of our facilities). ASKEATON TOURIST OFFICE: We are now running a new free service in the office. If you need information or forms on any subject we are here to help you. Things like driving licence forms, education grants, family income supplement, back to school allowances and more. This service is free. We have a computer for your use to aid you in any of these services.
COIS SIONNA CREDIT UNION SCHOOLS QUIZ: The Credit Union Schools Quiz is now in its 22nd year and has been well attended every year by the teams from the ten national schools in our common bond. Cois Sionna Credit Union appreciate all the hard work put into preparing the children for the quiz by the teachers and it is an enjoyable day for all involved. This year’s quiz was held on Saturday, February 2, in Askeaton Community Hall and we had 35 teams with 140 children taking part.
All of the participating teams were presented with a Credit Union Sports Watch and refreshments were provided. The winning teams were also presented with the Credit Union Cup and Credit Union Shield, plus individual certificates, individual salvers and kit bags. The winners are Team A: Shanagolden National School, Kate Madigan, Emma O’Malley, Cormac Woulfe, Dean Cooke; Team B: Shanagolden National School, Oonagh O’Hara, Cian O’Malley, Mark Kelly, Dean McCarthy.
