MASSES FOR LENT: Together with the usual weekday Masses in the Parish, an additional Mass will be celebrated in Raheen Church on Friday evenings at 7.30pm during Lent (which commenced this week - Ash Wednesday).
LENTEN TALKS AND REFLECTIONS: A series of four Talks and Reflections will be held at the Millennium Centre, beside the Church in Raheen, commencing on Wednesday evening next, 20 February, from 8pm to 9.30pm. The Talks, which have as their theme “A Lenten Journey Through The Creed To Mark The Year Of Faith”, will be deliverd by Fr. Frank O’Connor, who will also lead Reflections on The Creed and what Catholics believe, based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Admission is free, and all are welcome to come along; It will be helpful if those attending can bring along a copy of the Catechism.
TROCAIRE - LENTEN APPEAL: Trocaire Boxes, for this year’s Lenten appeal, are available in the three Churches of the Parish (Mungret, Crecora and Raheen) as well as being available through the Schools. The 2013 Lenten campaign has as it’s theme “You Can Help Communities Work Their Way Out Of Poverty”. The Trocaire Organisation has now spent forty years “working for a just world”. Parishioners are encouraged to take a box home and to remember the people of the Third World in their daily struggles to make a living, during Lent. M P C C CREDIT UNION - SCHOOLS QUIZ: The local preliminary round of the nationwide 2013 Credit Union Schools Quiz competition took place recently at Mungret/St. Paul’s GAA Clubhouse. The event was organised by the local M P C C Credit Union. A total of thirty two teams took part, involving almost one hundred and thirty school children. Teams representing Patrickswell National School, St. Paul’s Dooradoyle, St. Nessan’s Mungret, Ballybrown National School, Crecora National School and the Educate Together School took part. Questions for this round were compiled by National School teachers, with general topics such as geography, history, music, literature and sport included. Teams representing St. Nessan’s School, Mungret emerged as winners in both categories - under 11 and under 13. Both successful teams now go forward to the regional finals which will take place early next month; teams representing Schools in Limerick, Clare and Tipperary are involved at that stage. A place in the national finals of the Quiz awaits the successful Schools; the finals will take place in early April, at the RDS in Dublin. Needless to say, the two teams representing St. Nessan’s are wished the very best of luck in the remaining rounds of the competition. ALZHEIMER SOCIETY: In addition to the other services which are provided in this region by the Limerick Branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, a Social Club for people suffering with dementia, and their carers, takes place, in a supported environment, on Tuesday mornings at the Woodfield House Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerick, between 11am and 1pm. There is no charge involved, and tea and coffee are provided. “MARANATHA”: The Maranatha Prayer Ministry invites anyone who is interested to a Healing Retreat which is taking place this Sunday, 17 February, from 2.30pm to 7.30pm at St. Paul’s Church in Dooradoyle. BEREAVEMENT INFORMATION EVENING: On Tuesday, 26 February, a Bereavement Information Evening will take place at Milford Care Centre from 7pm to 8.30pm. This event is designed to provide general information relating to grief and bereavement to those who are bereaved, to their families and friends. Bereavement counsellors will be present to deal with any specific questions which may arise. LECTURES - CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY: The next Lecture in the series of Public Lectures, to celebrate the Year of Faith, at Mary Immaculate College, South Circular Road, will be delivered on Tuesday next, 19 February, at 5pm when Dr. Patrick Connolly will address the topic “Faith And The Nation”; subsequent Lectures will be delivered on successive Tuesday evenings at the same commencement times, all dealing with a Christian Spirituality - related topic. The Lectures will take place in Room 202 at Mary Immaculate College; admission to the Lectures is free, and everyone is welcome to come along.
IRISH WHEELCHAIR ASSOCIATION: The Limerick Branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association would like to hear from suitably qualified people who would be willing to work as Care assistants with the Association. A weekly commitment of nineteen and a half hours is required, and day and evening work is involved. Training will be provided by the local Wheelchair Association. DIOCESAN YOUTH MINISTRY - TAIZE: Young people residing in this Parish will be interested to know that this year’s Diocesan Youth Ministry Pilgrimage to Taize in France will take place from Thursday, 4 July to Tuesday, 9 July. MUNGRET/ST. PAUL’S GAA: The local Mungret/St. Paul’s GAA Club has produced a very high standard and informative annual Newsletter; the 2012/2013 Newsletter, recently distributed to households in the area, is a fine colour production, containing information regarding the Club’s many sporting and other achievements in 2012, together with plans for 2013. Mungret/St. Paul’s GAA Club caters for hurling, gaelic football, camogie and ladies football in the Raheen, Doradoyle, Mungret and Ballycummin areas.

The Register relates to “the new Dail Constituencies of Kerry North - West Limerick, Limerick and part of Limerick City ”. The Notice advises members of the public that the Register of Electors for the County of Limerick for Dail, European Assembly, Local Government, Presidential Elections and Referenda has been published and may be inspected at the following locations: Post Offices, Garda Stations, Health Centres, Libraries, Courthouses and Limerick County Council Office locations including County Hall, Dooradoyle. In addition, any resident can check if their name is included on the Register by accessing the County Council’s website at www.lcc.ie
